1st Children of Asia Winter Games kicks off

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The 1st Children of Asia Winter International Sports Games is taking place in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia on February 8-17. A team of 13 athletes are representing Mongolia in the cross country skiing, biathlon and short track events.
In the young men’s classic sprint ski race, B.Dalkhsuren, B.Khongor, G.Usukhbayar and B.Taivanbaatar finished the race in 54th-57th, while J.Byambanordog and Sh.Ariunjargal finished the young women’s classic sprint race in 47th and 52nd places respectively.
As for biathlon sprints, E.Enkhtaivan placed 17th in the young men’s 6 km race, while Ch.Byambasuren placed 32nd in the young women’s 4.5 km race. In the short track event, B.Altangerel and A.Burenbayar finished the 500 m race in the 26th and 27th places.
Free style cross country skiing events, which is one of the main events for the Mongolian team, is to take place today on February 11.
