Food Revolution: Demand for Chicken Meat to be Fully Met Domestically

Ulaanbaatar, May 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa visited “Ajigana” LLC on May 7, 2024. Company officials presented their Orgio chicken processing plant, industrial chicken coop, broiler chicken production, and incubators used for hatching eggs.


Mongolia imports over 22,000 tons of chicken meat annually, costing between USD 50-60 million, and statistics show that consumption grows 20 percent each year. State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia Jambaltseren Tumur-Uya said, “Through the “Food Supply and Security” National Campaign, we will fully meet the domestic demand for chicken meat within the next five years by providing support to enterprises in all possible ways.”


Ajigana LLC produces over 1,000 tons of chicken meat annually, contributing to 5 percent of the domestic demandAs part of the "Food Supply and SecurityNational Campaign, poultry manufacturers are offered long-term, low-interest loans. Additionallyequipment for poultry farming and feed machinery is exempt from VAT (Value Added Tax) and receives other policy support. Taking advantage of these soft loans, Ajigana LLC purchased and installed new incubators (exempt from customs duty), expanded its feed plant, and significantly improved its manufacturing capacity.


"AjiganaLLC has ambitious plans for the future. They intend to automate the slaughtering process, introduce an automated control and monitoring system, and increase their battery-cage capacity by 50 percent. Additionally, the company plans to collaborate with cooperatives and enterprises in the poultry sector. With these advancements, Ajigana LLC aims at meeting 20 percent of the domestic chicken meat demand.


“Ajigana” LLC has paid MNT 10 billion in tax in the previous years.
