Ulaanbaatar, April 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Borshoo Port in Uvs Aimag has undergone a comprehensive expansion and modernization program, culminating in its full upgrade with intelligent control systems, X-ray scanners, advanced equipment, and a dedicated laboratory.

As a result of the expansion, the border port capacity is expected to increase sixfold, enabling 1,500 passengers and 1,000 vehicles to cross the port daily. More specifically, the passing capacity for cars is projected to surge by 6.7 times, for passengers by 4.8 times, and for freight vehicles by 3 times.

The Borshoo Port modernization project aligns with the Mongolian Government's New Revival Policy, which prioritizes addressing border port and transportation logistics bottlenecks as critical factors hindering development. This policy translates into tangible investments and construction initiatives under the Port Revival program. By strengthening the hard and soft infrastructure of ports nationwide, the Government aims at significantly expanding cargo and passenger capacity, ultimately fostering export growth.
