Ulaanbaatar, April 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. A significant step towards bolstering economic ties between Mongolia and the  Free State of Thuringia, the Federal Republic of Germany was taken on April 8, 2024, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a pilot project on providing dual vocational training and career guidance for Mongolian youth in Thuringia.

The Project will leverage the extensive experience of German partners, the Erfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EKHW) and the Thuringia Vocational Training Institute (FAV). By factoring in Mongolian data, specific characteristics, and the current skilled labor gap, the initiative will provide personalized career counseling to young people, ensuring an appropriate fit for their aspirations and skillsets. This will involve collaborative research to tailor the program effectively.

The project will encompass comprehensive informational resources for young people, parents, guardians, and the broader public. It will provide a diverse range of demand-driven vocational options and pre-vocational guidance to assist informed decision-making. Additionally, the MoU facilitate cooperation in will, the development of a highly skilled workforce, and the delivery of high-quality, wide-reaching career counseling services.

The anticipated outcomes of cooperation include:

-Mongolian youth will benefit from increased competitiveness in the vocational and technical education and training arena, as well as within the labor market.

-By empowering young Mongolians with effective vocational guidance, the Project aims to contributing at the creation of a skilled workforce that aligns with industry needs.

-The Project is expected to reduce youth unemployment, improve future planning among young people, and mitigate potential social risks.
