Ulaanbaatar, April 2, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The launching ceremony of the project "Role of Civil Society Organizations to Improving the Response to Violations of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities" was held yesterday at the Ministry of Health.

Funded by the European Union, "Equal Society Union" NGO, Italian "AIFO" NGO, Mongolian Government Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, and Disabled People's Organizations will jointly implement the project over 24 months to establish a monitoring mechanism for strengthening the decentralized system in response to violations of the rights of people with disabilities.

Within the framework of the project, 20 people with disabilities and 20 civil society organizations operating at the national level will receive capacity-building training to influence policies and laws related to human rights. Moreover, the National Human Rights Commission and its branches in aimags will reveal cases that violate the rights of people with disabilities and take action.

As a result of the project, the organizations and people involved in the project will establish a monitoring mechanism to detect violations of the rights of people with disabilities, collect information about the rights of people with disabilities, and provide the State Great Khural with a report on the state of the rights of people with disabilities.

The National Council for Ensuring the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the General Department of Development of Persons with Disabilities, and the NGO "Intellectual Immunity Center" are participating in the project.
