Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Receives United Nations Special Envoy Jean Todt

/MONTSAME/. On March 27, 2024, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene
Luvsannamsrai received United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for
Road Safety Jean Todt.
In January 2024, during the 54th World Economic Forum held in
Davos, Switzerland, Premier Oyun-Erdene invited UN Special Envoy Jean Todt and
his wife Michelle Yeoh, Recipient of Academy Awards and UN Goodwill
Ambassador, to visit Mongolia.
At the outset of the meeting, Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene
expressed gratitude for the launch of the United Nations Global Campaign for
Road Safety in Mongolia and actions aimed at traffic education and raising
public awareness of road safety in Mongolia. Highlighting that the Government
of Mongolia is working to reform the legal framework of road traffic safety,
the Prime Minister proposed to cooperate in attracting investments, international
policy support, and training specialists in this field.
Noting that his goal for the visit to Mongolia is to launch the
UN campaign for road safety, UN Special Envoy Jean Todt underscored the plan to
place warning boards promoting road safety rules with the participation of
world celebrities in about one thousand cities of more than eighty countries.
The campaign aims at decreasing the number of traffic accidents by fifty
percent by 2030.
Also, UN Special Envoy Jean Todt remarked on the intention of
his wife Oscar-Winner Michelle Yeoh to visit Mongolia and promote Mongolia to
the world and support tourism under the "Welcome to Mongolia" and
"GoMongolia" initiatives, as she agreed with the Prime Minister of
Mongolia during their meeting in Davos, Switzerland.
