Mongolia-China Expo: Vital Platform for Economic and Trade Cooperation

Ulaanbaatar, September 7, 2023 /MONTSAME/. Within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Mongolia and the People’s Republic of China, the Fourth Mongolia-China Expo is being held on September 6-10 in Hohhot, the capital city the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of PRC. The Expo under the theme "New pattern for opening-up, new opportunities" features a series of activities, including an economic and trade forum for China's northward opening-up, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges.


The main exhibition area of the Fourth Mongolia-China Expo covers 92,000 square meters, and over 3000 companies from 35 countries and regions, in particular, over 500 companies from Mongolia are participating in the Expo.


Members of the Industrialization Policy Standing Committee of the State Great Khural and some Ministers visited the Expo. MP and Deputy Prime Minister Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan delivered remarks at the opening ceremony, expressing the intention of the Government of Mongolia to increase trade with China further, expanding the types of export and import products, to support investment, specifically investment into renewable energy sector.


Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Bolorchuluun Khayangaa, emphasized the importance of the expo in enhancing border trade and cooperation of the two countries and improving economic circulation for businesses.

Vice chairman of the Standing Committee of National People's Congress He Wei stated in his speech at the opening that the Mongolia-China Expo plays a remarkable role in strengthening trade and economic cooperation as well as cultural exchange between not only Mongolia and China but also among the countries in Northeast Asia. He also expressed that the country will continue to focus on speeding up economic circulation in the areas of border trade, mining, new energy, information technology, port infrastructure, development of border ports, combating desertification, education, and health.


As part of his visit to the Mongolia-China Expo, Deputy Prime Minister Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan met with He Wei, vice chairman of the 14th NPC Standing Committee and other officials to exchange views on realizing the agreements reached at the government level of the two countries and within the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Deputy Premier also expressed Mongolia’s commitment to increasing the trade turnover of the two countries to USD20 billion, enhancing the passing capacity of the ports, diversifying the trade structure, connecting some ports by rail, and facilitating transportation and logistics operations.


Mr. He Wei said the Chinese side is actively working to further strengthen the cooperation with Mongolia and emphasized China’s willingness to cooperate more closely in infrastructure construction including roads and bridges.
