Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Mongolia has developed its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), which was approved by the Government Decree No.407 of November 2019, with the aim to contribute to the Paris Agreement. In the scope of the Waste and Climate Change Project, the Asia Foundation has been providing technical support to define the baseline and greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in the waste sector and to develop a waste sector-specific Action Plan to achieve NDC.

An online event was organized on January 8, 2021, with guidance and support from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET), involving over 40 waste sector professionals to discuss potential activities and a plan forward.

The project is generously funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, as well as the International Environmental Technology Center of the United Nations Environment Programme and has been implementing in close collaboration with the MET and the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s office.
