Snowfall and blizzards expected from today

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Large amount of snowfall is expected in the western aimags today.

 

Blizzards are expected in Zavkhan and northern Bulgan aimag, with wind speed reaching 18-20 m/sec in Gobi-Altai, Uvurkhangai, and southern Bayankhongor aimag.

 

Snowfall is also expected in most parts of western and central aimags today on March 24, with strong winds, warns the National Agency of Meteorology and Environment.

 

Precipitation is expected in some parts of western, central, and eastern aimags on March 25, and in some parts of eastern aimags on March 26. 

 

Wind speed will reach 16-18 m/sec at some times in most parts of the country on March 25, and in the Gobi and plains on March 26.

 

With temperature drops in most parts of the country, in the depression of Lake Uvs, in the head of Zavkhan river, and in the basins of Ider and Tes rivers, the temperature will range from -25 to -30 degrees Celsius during the night, and -10 to -15 during the day.

 

In mountainous areas of Khangai, Khuvsgul, and Khentei, near Khurenbelchir, in the basins of Orkhon-Selenge, Kharaa, Yuruu, Tuul, Terelj, Kherlen, Onon, and Khalkh rivers, the temperature will be -17 to -22 during the night, and -6 to -11 during the day.

 

In the southern Gobi region, the temperature will be -4 to -9 during the night, and +3 to +8 during the day.

 

In other areas, the night-time temperature will be -11 to -16 degrees Celsius, and daytime temperature will be -2 to -7 degrees Celsius. The cold will ease in most parts of the country from March 28.
