UN Special Rapporteur Michel Forst to visit Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders Michel Forst will work in Mongolia between April 30 and May 13.

During his stay, Special Rapporteur M.Frost will get acquainted with conditions of local human rights defenders and make recommendations. He will also meet with the heads and authorities of Parliament, Cabinet, Administrative Court, General Prosecutor’s Office, Governor’s Office, National Data Center, General Authority of State Registration and work in Dornogobi aimag.

Special Rapporteur will present his report on Mongolia at the 43rd session of the UN Human Rights Council in March, 2020.

Mr Michel Forst was appointed as the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders in 2014. Previously, he was the UN Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in Haiti, Secretary General of the first World Summit on Human Rights Defenders in 1998 and executive director of Amnesty International France.
