WHO Assistant Director General for Communicable Diseases visits Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On July 26, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel received the World Health Organization (WHO) Assistant Director-General for Communicable Diseases Dr. Ren Minghui, who is visiting Mongolia to attend the World Hepatitis Day event.

During the meeting, Minister D.Sarangerel expressed her gratitude to the WHO administration for promoting the ‘Whole-Liver Mongolia’ (Healthy Liver Mongolia) national program to the world and for the opportunity to share experiences with other countries.

Addressing Dr. Ren Minghui, Minister D.Sarangerel said to ‘We will visit the National Center for Communicable Diseases to provide you with a comprehensive information on the spread of the most prevalent infectious diseases in Mongolia, morbidity, the measures taken by the Government in the prevention and control of infectious diseases. You will get acquainted with the center’s operation, National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory, Red ribbon hospital that provides services to patients with HIV / AIDS and attend the opening ceremony of the Online curriculum for communicable disease physicians and specialists, developed with assistance from the Stanford University.”
 
Representatives including Dr. Gottfried Hirnschall, Director of the HIV/AIDS Department and the WHO Global Hepatitis Programme (GHP), Dr. Marc Bulterys, Team Lead of WHO's Global Hepatitis Programme, Dr. Naoko Ishikawa, technical officer responsible for HIV, STI and elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis in the Western Pacific Region and WHO Information Manager N.Oyuntungalag arrived to attend the World Hepatitis Day event.
