Number of Mongolian students in Russia to increase

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mr I.K.Azizov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia said that the number of Mongolians studying in Russia will increase as he met Tuesday G.Chuluunbaatar, Minister of Education, Culture and Science.

“Education sector is one of the biggest directions in our cooperation. The number of Mongolian students studying in Russia with the governmental scholarships has been increasing steadily,” the Ambassador said.

“In the academic years of 2017-2018, 450 Mongolians will study in Russian universities and institutes with the governmental scholarships. We aim to augment this number to 500,” Mr Azizov added.

Mentioning that the Mongolia-Russia relations have been developing for over a century, the Minister said Mongolia intends to expand the cooperation with Russia in the fields of culture, education, sport and science and to co-organize several measures. For instance, film days will be co-organized in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Culture in October and November, while cultural days will be held next year.

Mr Chuluunbaatar added that the joint program established with the Russian Ministries of Culture; and Education and Science will be expired this year, so Mongolia wants to prolong this program after upgrading the relevant agreements.

In spring of the next year, 11 Mongolian ballet dancers will graduate from the Perm’s Choreography School, and they are expected to enroll into the Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, contributing to classical arts in Mongolia.

In the scientific sphere, Mongolia plans to co-implement joint research projects and programs in frames of a collaboration agreement with the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR). With an aim to support the research works’ effect, five biggest targeted projects will be implemented with a financing of up to RUB one million.

Apart from it, the Minister put forward proposals on hiring Russian coaches for national teams of Mongolia and holding joint sport training. He asked the Russian Ambassador to back an issue of training Mongolian coaches and experts at the Olympic Academy of Sochi.
