Some winter preparation works to be financed from Government reserve fund

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet approved to allocate necessary funding from the Government reserve fund for measures including, summer and autumn movement, fight against grasshopper migration, providing herders with social and health services, and preparing hay and fodder reserves for aimags and soums through hay-making.

Relevant ministers and heads of agencies were assigned to organize works to make hay and fodder reserves in order to prevent from potential hazards in winter and spring time due to bad weather, to establish contracts with relevant organizations defining number of herder families and livestock, which pass winter and spring on border zones, natural protected areas or winter and spring camps of others, to fight animal infectious diseases, rodents and insects, create new wells in camp areas, and make preparation for hay making and harvest time as well as provide herders with aids and services when necessary.

As of June 20, 20 percent of the total area of ​​the country has good pasture vegetation, 70 percent has moderate, while 10 percent has bad vegetation. Currently, cultivation has been made on 517 thousand hectares of land, of which 25 thousand hectares are cultivated for fodder plants.
