Foreign Minister meets White House National Security Advisor

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts.Munkh-Orgil met with White House National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster on June 12 during his official visit to the United States which wraps up today, June 14.

Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil expressed his willingness to strengthen the comprehensive partnership with the United States, Mongolia’s important third neighbour, and make concrete steps in expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as increasing investment.

Both sides have underlined that the peacekeepers of the two nations have been working together to provide regional, as well as global security, and stability. Mongolia confirmed its continued participation at the “Resolute support” mission in Afghanistan.

Lt. Gen. McMaster highly valued Mongolia’s contribution and efforts towards the peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan and global arena, and expressed gratitude for the decision to continue the participation at the “Resolute support” mission. Moreover, he stressed that while strengthening the friendly relations between Mongolia and the United States, and stimulating the political and defense cooperation; expanding of bilateral trade and investment, and deepening the cultural, educational, as well as people-to-people ties will play an important role in bilateral relations.

H.E. Mr. Altangerel Bulgaa, Ambassdor of Mongolia to the U.S., H.E. Mrs. Jennifer Zimdahl Galt, US Ambassador to Mongolia, and Mr. Matthew Pottinger, Asian Affairs Senior Director of the National Security Council were present at the meeting.

At the same day, Minister Ts.Munkh-Orgil met Mr. Jonathan Nash, Acting CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and exchanged views on current progress of preparations for the conclusion of the Second Compact Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the MCC.
