Taxes imposed on hybrid vehicles to be refunded

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ During its irregular meeting on June 9, Friday, the Cabinet set the rate of tax on hybrid, natural gas and electric vehicles at zero percent until July 1 and at 50 percent from July 1. Resolution of the Government is valid from June 9.
The vehicles to be covered under the new tax policy include full hybrid electric automobiles such as Toyota Prius, which is the most popular used cars in Mongolia.
In compliance with the resolution, excise taxes imposed on above mentioned vehicles imported between May 1 and June 9 will be refunded. A total of 375 hybrid, natural gas and electric vehicles were imported to Mongolia, and around MNT 691 million of excise taxes imposed on those cars during the period.
