President Ts.Elbegdorj attending SCO Summit 2017

Astana /MONTSAME/ President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj arrived Thursday in Astana, Kazakhstan to attend the 17th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit of the Council of Heads of State.

Led by the President, the Mongolian delegation to SCO includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Ts. Munkh-Orgil, Mongolian Ambassador to Kazakhstan L.Battulga, Chief of Staff of President of Mongolia Ts.Bayarsaikhan and President’s Foreign Policy Advisor L.Purevsuren.

Today, June 9, President Ts.Elbegdorj is scheduled to attend several meetings and sessions including a meeting with Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
 
President Ts.Elbegdorj will be giving speech expressing the position of Mongolia during the summit and meet with delegates from other counties. He is also scheduled to attend the opening of ‘Astana Expo-2017’ international exhibition.
 
Mongolia seeks to actively engage in political and economic affairs in the Asia Pacific region, and regards SCO as an important channel through which Mongolia can partake in regional multilateral cooperation. Mongolia gained the status of SCO observer state in 2004.
