Deputy Speaker Bat-Erdene to Assume Speaker Duties

/MONTSAME/. During its plenary session on November 12, 2025, the Parliament discussed the draft Resolution on Assigning the Duties of
the Speaker of the State Great Khural of Mongolia.
Chairman of the Standing Committee
on State Structure Sandag-Ochir Tsend presented the committee’s conclusions on
the draft Resolution. During the discussion, Member of Parliament Erdenebold Sukhbaatar
delivered remarks, noting that the country has recently faced challenges that have tested the core values of the Constitution. He addressed MP J. Bat-Erdene, who has
been elected Deputy Speaker and is now tasked with temporarily leading the
legislative body, urging him to uphold the dignity of Parliament, strengthen
the ethical standards of legislators, and safeguard the trust and sovereign
rights of the people as well as the integrity of the parliamentary system.
Following deliberation, members
voted on the proposal in accordance with the recommendation of the Standing
Committee on State Structure. A total of 79 percent of MPs present supported
the draft resolution. As a result, Deputy Speaker Bat-Erdene was assigned to
perform the duties of the Speaker of the State Great Khural until a new Speaker
is elected.
