Ulaanbaatar, October 7, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Women’s World Championship Final for 100-Square Draughts concluded on October 6, 2025, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The tournament brought together 18 top athletes from 11 countries. Mongolia was represented by the 2024 Asian Champion and Grandmaster Munkhjin Baatarkhuu, the World Draughts Federation Master and bronze medalist Anujin Baatarkhuu, and the Candidate Master Tsatsral Tsogtgerel.

The Women’s World Championship marked the first time that three Mongolian players participated. Asian two-time Champion and Grandmaster Munkhjin finished in 8th place, World Draughts Federation Master Anujin finished in 9th place, and Candidate Master Tsatsral finished in 12th place. For Anujin, she was ranked in 2nd place after the seventh round, but a loss to Ukraine’s top player, Viktoriya Motrichko, in the eighth round caused her to drop to fifth. She then drew her final match, securing 9th place. Meanwhile, Grandmaster Munkhjin performed well in the final rounds, moving up to 8th place to achieve the highest ranking ever by a Mongolian draughts player in a World Championship. Tsatsral drew her final match, finishing in 12th place. Ukrainian Grandmaster Viktoriya Motrichko won the gold medal, while Saiya Gansukh of the People’s Republic of China and Yuliya Makarenkova of Ukraine won the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

The twin draughts players Munkhjin Baatarkhuu and Anujin Baatarkhuu are the first Mongolian athletes to place in the Top 10 at the World Championship. The previous highest achievement by a Mongolian draughts player was 10th place. Specifically, Grandmaster Nyamjargal Munkhbaatar placed 10th at the 2017 World Championship. Furthermore, the only medal won by a Mongolian draughts player at an Adult World Championship was secured by World Draughts Federation Candidate Master Munkhtuya Nasanbayar at the 2018 Rapid World Championship, where she claimed the silver medal.
