Ulaanbaatar, September 18, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of a permanent parliament in Mongolia, past Chairmen of the State Great Khural and leaders of its Secretariat participated in a regular meeting of the “Khuraldai” Advisory Chamber on September 15, 2025.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of the Parliament, Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve, extended his congratulations on the historic anniversary of the development of modern parliamentary culture, noting that a new page had been opened in the historical path of statehood when the State Baga Khural (Lower House) held its first session on September 13, 1990.

Chairman Amarbayasgalan emphasized that the State Baga Khural has proven, through historical events, that a multi-party parliamentary government is the surest path to the future development of the Mongolian people. He further noted that the State Great Khural and its Secretariat have not only fulfilled their historical role in developing a rule of law and strengthening parliamentary culture, but have also continued to prioritize the continuity of state policy and the accessibility of institutional development. Chairman Amarbayasgalan underlined that since the establishment of the permanent Parliament, successive State Great Khurals have adopted priority decisions in line with the policies and objectives of their time, and that the Ninth Parliament is now fulfilling its noble duty as the representative body of the people while carrying forward the cultural heritage, traditions, and valuable lessons originating from the State Baga Khural. The Chairman of the Parliament also highlighted that the current Parliament, comprising an enhanced capacity through systemic reforms, consists of 126 members from five political parties and coalitions and is working to further strengthen the development of democratic institutions and parliamentary principles by combining tradition with innovation.

At the meeting of the Khuraldai Chamber, participants held an open exchange of views on the strategic goals approved by the State Great Khural, certain draft laws to be discussed at the autumn regular session, the new procedure for budget discussions, and the comprehensive implementation of tax reforms.

During the meeting, the former Heads of Parliament expressed their views on the need to reflect changing circumstances and emerging demands in policy and decisions, introducing scientific and technological advances into lawmaking activities, and fostering justice and ethical leadership in society.
