Ulaanbaatar, May 29, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Under the “Ulaanbaatar Art Week-2025,” the Exhibition titled "Under One Roof" opened at the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts on May 30, 2025.

The Exhibition, co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth of Mongolia and the Union of Mongolian Artists, presents artwork by four artists from the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts. These artists worked on their pieces under the same roof, thus the name “Under One Roof”.

One of the participating artists, the Conservator-Restorer and Painter Chinzorig Ryenchin-Ochir, is exhibiting over 20 pieces of his artwork. As he holds a degree in Mongolian Painting, it is no surprise that the genre of Mongolian painting prevails in his exhibits. However, the audience can also expect to see different styles like cave paintings and felt art.

Conservator-Restorer, Painter Chinzorig Ryenchin-Ochir: “I would like to highlight the swaddling cloth made of felt. From an artistic point of view, it represents the coddling and growth processes of human consciousness, and finally, its development of eyes, represented in this case by the holes in the swaddling felt. The human consciousness has much room for further development even in one’s adult years. My art symbolizes fostering joy, forgiveness, kindness, and compassion. A cradle’s role is to protect the baby while it grows in a warm, comfortable, safe environment until it is fully developed and ready to interact with the external world. This piece is a symbol of “the third eye”. This “eye of wisdom” is said to have visions of the past, present, and future. According to this symbolic logic, it expresses the idea that whatever we do today will create our tomorrow. To reiterate, it’s an encouragement to heed one’s actions toward the present and future.”

Head of the Foreign Affairs and Public Relations Department of the Museum, Painter Battuya Tsevelmaa is also part of the Exhibition, presenting 19 pieces of art. Among them, a painting called “The Mother Tree” (2014) steals the spotlight. Painted in the style of Mongolian painting, it creatively reflects on the authentic paths and colors that all mothers’ offspring eventually must flourish into. Trees are a predominant theme in Artist Battuya Tsevelmaa’s oeuvre.

The “Under One Roof” Exhibition encompasses a total of 50 pieces of art created by the Director of Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts, Dr. Baigalmaa Purevsukh, Head of the Foreign Affairs and Public Relations Department of the Museum, Painter Battuya Tsevelmaa, Conservator-Restorer and Painter Chinzorig Ryenchin-Ochir, and Curator, Painter Khulan Narantuya. Also, some museum staff are exhibiting the art they created during the educational program. The Exhibition is open on May 29-June 4, 2025.
