Mongolian Para Judoka Turuunaa Lkhaijav Earns Second Medal at World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, May 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 2025 International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) World Judo Championships were held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on May 13-15, 2025, bringing together approximately 250 athletes from 37 countries.
Mongolia was represented by eight judokas under the guidance of National Team Coaches A. Munkhbat and S. Yadamdorj. The Mongolian team concluded the competition with one bronze medal.
Specifically, International Master of Sport Turuunaa Lkhaijav secured the bronze medal in the women’s J1 category, 70 kg division, marking her second consecutive podium finish at the World Championships. She previously earned the silver medal at the 2022 World Championships held in Baku, Azerbaijan. With this achievement, she became the first Mongolian para judoka to win two World Championship medals.
In 2024, Mongolian judoka Turuunaa Lkhaijav competed for a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, ultimately finishing fifth place.
In the men’s events, International Master of Sport D. Ganbat placed seventh in the J1 75 kg category, while Master of Sport L. Erdenebileg contended for bronze in the +95 kg division but was defeated by a Kazakh judoka.
