Collaborative Efforts with the United Nations to Strengthen Forest Firefighting Capacity

Ulaanbaatar, February 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. On February 5, 2024, Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia Bat-Erdene Bat-Ulzii and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Mongolia Matilda Dimovska signed a document to implement the “Strengthening Forest Firefighting Capacity towards Green Recovery in Mongolia” project in collaboration with the UNDP and the Forest Department of the Government Implementing Agency.
The program will be funded with MNT one billion and 700 million (equivalent to USD 500,000) within the framework of the grant of the “Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund of China” International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).
The Ministry of Education and Culture
reported that the signing ceremony was attended by Shen Minjuan, Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to
Mongolia, Sun Xuejun, Commercial and Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of the
People's Republic of China, Lin Cao, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in
Mongolia, and Oyunsanaa Byambasuren, Director-General of the Forestry Agency of
the Government of Mongolia, among other officials.
