Selenge aimag to supply seedlings to One Billion Trees campaign

consultation on the implementation of the One Billion Trees national campaign, initiated by the
President of Mongolia, in rural areas took place in Selenge aimag, during which
it was announced that the aimag has set a goal to become the campaign’s seedling
supplier in addition to planting 20 million trees.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the
President of Mongolia A.Uilstuguldur thanked the local authorities,
organizations, and companies for their support in the tree planting and
conservation efforts against desertification, land degradation, and yellow dust
storms on behalf of the President of Mongolia.
An exhibition of seedlings,
seeds, fertilizers, and equipment was organized during the ‘One Billion Trees
campaign in Selenge aimag’ consultation. Minister of Environment and Tourism
B.Bat-Erdene and Environmental and Green Development Policy Advisor to the President
of Mongolia N.Batkhuu attended the event.
A working group consisting of
officials and representatives from the Office of the President of Mongolia, Ministry
of Environment and Tourism and other ministries, academic community and public
and private sectors has developed a strategy and action plan for the
implementation of the tree planting campaign, which will be approved by the national
committee in charge of climate change and reduction of desertification headed by the Prime Minister of
Mongolia.
