Mongolian herders win ‘Best Pastoralist Community’ award from international congress

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Mongolian herders have won an award from an international congress on pasture management.
More specifically, during the Joint International Grassland (IGC) & International Rangeland (IRC) Congress that took place in Nairobi, Kenya, Head of the ‘Bichigt Khad’ pasture user group based in Davst, Uvs aimag B.Bayan-Ochir and Head of the ‘Aduun Chuluun’ pasture user group based in Lun, Tuv aimag J.Solongo have received the Award for Best Pastoralist Community. The award was also presented to a pasture user group based in Kyrgyzstan.
The Joint XXIV IGC and XI IRC Congress took place between October 25 and 29 under the theme, ‘Sustainable Use of Greenland and Rangeland Resources for Improved Livelihoods’. The congress aims to promote sharing scientific and technical information on all aspects of natural and cultivated grasslands and forage crops for the benefit of mankind, including sustainable development, food production, and maintenance of biodiversity.
