Mongolia-India Joint Committee on Cooperation convenes virtually

On December 3, the 7th meeting of the Mongolia-India Joint Committee on Cooperation took place virtually.
Chaired by Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government L.Oyun-Erdene from the side of Mongolia and Indian Minister of External Affairs S.Jaishankar from the side of India the meeting was attended by Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry G.Yondon, Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs B.Munkhjin, Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas of India T.Kapoor, and Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India G.Riva.
The sides discussed on strengthening the strategic partnership between Mongolia and India, and expanding cooperation in the sectors of politics, trades, economy, mining, heavy industry, road and transport, agriculture, education, culture, and IT.
They also exchanged views on accelerating the oil refinery project as well as starting export of mining products, and came to the decision to conduct a transportation test with samples of coal from Tavantolgoi deposit.
In the sector of IT, the side of India expressed support for establishing an outsourcing center named after A.B.Vajpayee in Ulaanbaatar city and continuing to prepare personnel.
It was also discussed to organize the visits that were planned this year for the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, in the year of 2021. The Ministers also jointly inaugurated the 65th anniversary commemorative stamp issued by Mongol Post.
During the meeting, the sides also expressed their interest in continuing to keep the traditional relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as to further strengthen the cooperation on the level of UN and international, regional organizations. Furthermore, Mongolia informed it decided to join the International Solar Alliance that is based in New Delhi, India.
Noting the successful organization of charter flights to bring back citizens from both sides during the current global pandemic, the sides agreed to cooperate in overcoming the pandemic, and exchange information about medicine, treatment and provision of vaccines.
