Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh is on working trip to Bulgan, Arkhangai and Uvurkhangai aimags.
On September 10, the PM became familiarized with progress of pasture restoration being made on 30 hectares of land at a place called Khevteegiin Ar in Avzaga bagh of Gurvanbulag soum, Bulgan aimag within a project entitled “Remote Sensing and Rehabilitation Experiments for Overgrazed Pastures”. The project is being carried out since 2018 under the Intergovernmental Agreement between Mongolia and China. The degree of grassland degradation of entire territory, land degradation rate and impacting factors will be defined with the help of remote sensing method. Moreover, the project has goals to introduce and domesticate rehabilitation technologies adopted to different geographical conditions and to make restoration by planting perennial and leguminous plants and other naturalized sorts of plants.
Additionally, scientific workers of the project are constantly conducting training on rehabilitation of degraded pastureland to herders. It takes time to grow plants for livestock and restore soil and overprice of some plants seeds and lack of technology and working force are causing difficulties, said the project implementer.
The PM noted that the Government would pay attention on making
rehabilitation of degraded grazing lands across Mongolia.
