Environment Ministry to cooperate with WB in relocation of environmentally harmful factories

D.Sarangerel on August 27 met with World Bank Country Manager for Mongolia,
East Asia & Pacific Andrei Mikhnev to discuss completed and ongoing joint
projects and areas of further cooperation.
Minister D.Sarangerel said it is possible for Mongolia and the Bank to cooperate in the areas of air pollution, water management, land degradation, endangered species' reproduction and reintroduction, tourism service, and especially the conservation and rehabilitation of Khuvsgul Lake and Tuul River, emphasizing that there are also numerous projects the sides could implement in tourism development which is one of the priorities of Government of Mongolia.
The WB Country Manager noted that the area on which the
Bank places much emphasis is environmental conservation and that the Bank has
planned a number of projects and programs for environmental conservation including the one
that aims to relocate environmentally unfriendly industrial facilities
in Ulaanbaatar out of the city.
