Military servicemen studying at Polytechnic College in Gobisumber

During his working trip to Sumber soum of Gobisumber aimag, Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh got acquainted with the activity of Polytechnic College under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Out of 693 students majoring in 15 professions at the college, 103 are contract and conscript soldiers. The servicemen are studying to become heavy machine operators and repair workers within the program ‘Mongolian Soldier-Construction’.


Within the program, 100 servicemen of first turn graduated from the college and they all found permanent jobs.

With the capacity to train 800 students, the college has eight specialized laboratories with the latest equipment and offers training of heavy machine operator, repairer, welder, electrician and lathe operator. Students use computer-based simulator to get skills of mining activities including extracting, loading and transporting.


The workforce is needed for major construction projects such as construction works of Zuunbayan railroad, Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait railroad and Oil refinery; thus the government supports the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centers and works for capacity building of rural TVETs.
