Environment Minister meets top participants of ‘Green Passport’ campaign

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Initiated by Minister of Environment and Tourism N.Tserenbat, ‘Green Passport’ campaign is being successfully implemented with aims to give knowledge of environment protection and prepare a generation of nature protectors with the help of high school students.

The campaign’s top participants from 21 aimags were awarded a trip to Beijing between August 30 and September 5 this year.

On September 6, Minister N.Tserenbat met representatives of the top 'Green passport' holders, wishing them to be nature-friendly models to their peers and adults.

Expressing their thanks to the Minister for an opportunity to get acquainted with development of other country, the students expressed their commitment to make efforts to make locals of their provinces to have eco-friendly attitude.  

The Green Passport campaign was launched in March, 2018. As of 2019, some 50 thousand high school students of 543 general educational schools nationwide have received Green Passport. By 2022, 168 thousand students of 778 schools are expected to be ‘Green Passport’ holders.

Within the campaign, the Ministry in collaboration with the Green Passport holders launched an activity to build a ‘Green Grove’ with appropriate fences, sunshade and irrigation system in 2.5-hectare area in each of the 21 aimags.
