National program on soil conservation and reduction of land degradation approved

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On August 14, A national program on Soil conservation and reduction of land degradation was approved at a cabinet meeting. The program reflects 55 ranges of actions to be implemented from 2019 to 2023 with a goal to increase social and economic benefits of soil and land by ensuring adequate use of soil resource, protect and conserve the soil, prevent from soil pollution and degradation, carry out activities directed at rehabilitation and develop long-term sustainable management. The national program is expected to result in conservation of healthy soil, reduction of land degradation by 30 percent and of elements polluting soil in settled areas by 20 percent and reduction of diseases caused by soil pollution by cleaning contaminated soils.
