Mongolian Fine Art Masterpiece: “Migration”

MONTSAME National News Agency in cooperation with the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery is presenting a series of Mongolian fine art masterpieces. This time, we are presenting the artwork ‘Migration’ by Ts.Minjuur.
Created with gouache on a 52x92 canvas in 1967, the painting depicts migration customs of Mongolians through traditional painting style. The painting dominated by green demonstrates the Mongolian tradition of welcoming a migrating family. Painter Minjuur skillfully painted in detail everything including the people travelling with their children and luggage on the camel caravan, the locals greeting them, wildlife, river, trees and the greenery.
“Minjuur used to wear +5 glasses in addition to his +2 glasses when painting. He would then make his creation with a magnifier in his hand” reminisced his colleague, painter D.Tserenpil.
Pleasant summer time with a cattle grazing on a vast steppe and the surroundings covered in greenery can be seen on the painting.
Minjuur Tserendorj was not only a good painter but also a real Mongolian craftsman. He led the craftsmen who restored the Bogd Khan Palace Museum and Choijin Lama Temple Museum and the museums’ gilded exhibits in 1962, as well as he restored gilded parts of the National Library’s scriptures including the Jadamba sutra in 1963. He also designed Mongolian modern banknotes and passport.
