Green city plan for Ulaanbaatar under development
EnvironmentUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Ulaanbaatar city has joined the Green Cities programme of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The meeting of partners to develop the Green City Action Plan was held on March 6 at Open Society Forum.
At the meeting, priority environmental issues of Ulaanbaatar to become a green city were identified with the participation of experts.
“Since the project has launched, we have been studying existing policy documents on seven main sectors of green development including energy, construction, production, water, waste, public transport and land use, setting the indicators at national and the city levels. There are more than 60 policy documents on green development. We will define main directions according to the Green City Development Plan,” said Programme Coordinator B.Munkhsoyol.
She also noted that they are gathering data and indicators related to the sector issues, so that the issues that our capital is facing today will be clarified. Based on the indicators, it will be possible to come up with solutions to the issues.
The meeting was attended by experts and representatives of EBRD, RWA Group, ‘Arcadas’, Ministry of Construction and Urban Development, Ulaanbaatar city Mayor’s Office, Governor Office of the capital city.
