Mongolian delegation attending 42nd Session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee

Ulaanbaatar /MMONTSAME/ A Mongolian delegation led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism Ts.Tsengel is attending the 42nd Session of the World Heritage Committee being organized in Manama city, Bahrain on June 25-30.

Attendees are discussing matters on protection of world cultural and natural heritages.

In the frame of conservation of Lake Baikal inscribed on World Heritage, the State Secretary reported about preparation work for conducting regional environmental assessment to define impact of water facilities projected to build in Selenge River basin in Mongolia as well as actions Mongolia is taking to realizing decisions made on this issue at the previous session.

In conjunction to decisions being made regarding Mongolia, the delegates met with representatives of member states of the committee, International Union for Conservation of Nature and Secretariat of the World Heritage Committee to give comprehensive information on actions taken by the Government of Mongolia.
