Exhibition of Japanese woodblock prints
VideoThe Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts annually holds exhibitions displaying from its fund. This time the museum is showcasing Japanese woodblock prints and paintings (ukiyo-e) under the theme ‘Sound of four seasons’. The artworks are being kept in the museum as a form of reproduction.
The exhibition comprised of prints of over 40 artists of Ukiyo-e. Artworks created by Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806) and Suzuki Harunobu (1724-1770) are focal point of the exhibition. They are the most highly regarded designers of Japanese woodblock prints and they promoted Japanese traditional art of woodblock print to the world in the 19th century.
Images of people’s life, nature and beautiful women are dominated in the prints. Especially women’s beauty is incredibly depicted with fine lines and jaunty movements.
The exhibition will run for a month starting on December 01.
