Cabinet discusses measures to reduce air pollution

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Cabinet addressed air pollution reduction measures, and issued some instructions.

During its regular meeting on August 17, Thursday, the Cabinet assigned Finance Minister B.Choijilsuren and Energy Minister P.Gankhuu to solve the finance for air pollution reduction measures – providing electric heat to some 20 thousand households in ger areas, and removing 71 furnaces and connecting the users to central heating system, with a repayment condition.

A study has been conducted on facilitating the technological conditions to provide 4kV electric heaters to 20 thousand households, and ensure stability and reliability. The measure will reach 20 thousand households in 23 Khoroos in the most polluted zones of Songinokhairkhan, Bayangol, Chingeltei, Sukhbaatar and Bayanzurkh districts. Moreover, a plan has been drafted on the removal of 71 furnaces in operation, and connecting the users to central heating system.

In scope of 42 package measures that aim to provide electricity to areas of new settlement and zones with occurrence of voltage failure, 63 substations have been built in 6 districts of the capital city, connecting 6,373 households to electricity grid.
