‘Mongolia sunrise to sunset’ marathon to run for cleaning vicinity of Khuvsgul Lake

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 19th 'Mongolia sunrise to sunset' international marathon will be held on August 2 at the shore of the Khuvsgul Lake. EcoLeap foundation has been organizing 42 km and 100 km trail run since 1998 and over 60 athletes from 21 countries take part in the marathon every year. Lake Huvsgul and the untouched forests, lowlands and mountains of the Khuvsgul National Park are a setting for one of the most beautiful runs on the planet, Mongolia sunrise to sunset.
With the revenue from the marathon, the NGO carries out nature protection actions and support waste management of the Khuvsgul Specially Protected Area Administration, collecting and transporting waste in the vicinity of the Khuvsgul Lake. Every tourism season, they also distribute 20 thousand pieces of eco-friendly garbage bags free of charge to travelers at the Khatgal entrance point and finances cost for waste transporting track and personnel for it.
