State Secretary D.Davaasuren meets with the US administrative officials

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Within the political consultative meeting between Mongolia and the US, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren met with a number of officials including Katherine Monge, Senior Policy Advisor to Speaker N.Pelosi, Steve Biegun, Special Representative for North Korea at the Department of State, Matt Pottinger, Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the White House National Security Council, Patrick Murphy, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Director of the Peace Corps Jody Olsen and Jennifer Galt, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs.

During his meeting with Katherine Monge, State Secretary D.Davaasuren shared opinions on the process of ratification of the Law on Promoting Third Neighborhood Trade and expressed his hope that the law will be adopted under the supervision of Speaker N.Pelosi. The law was submitted to the Congress in the middle of April.


At the meeting with Special Representative Steve Biegun, the parties shared views on the latest events on Korean peninsula. The US side expressed gratitude for Mongolia’s contribution to maintaining nuclear-free Korean peninsula. In return, the Mongolian side invited the US representatives to the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on North East Asian Security to be held in June, 2019.

State Secretary D.Davaasuren expressed gratitude to the Director of Peace Corps Jody Olsen for the support and contribution to the social development of Mongolia. Dr Olsen also expressed gratitude for the warm acceptance and support, noting that the number of Peace Corps volunteers in Mongolia will be increased by 20 percent starting from 2020.


At his meeting with the former Ambassador of the US to Mongolia Jennifer Galt, State Secretary D.Davaasuren expressed gratitude for the contribution to the development of bilateral relations. He also expressed his hope that as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs Ms Galt will continue supporting bilateral relations.

The parties announced the 2019 as ‘Mongolia-US Youth Year’, organizing joint events to promote youth relations between the two countries.
