Ulaanbaatar, December 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Despite a downturn in the global coal market that has reduced sales and export volumes, Erdenes Tavantolgoi JSC achieved its highest monthly sales of 2025 in November by reassessing market conditions and improving sales, transportation, and logistics arrangements.

According to the company, Erdenes Tavantolgoi increased its participation in the coal exchange, selling 2.47 million tons of coal through 28 trading sessions, worth USD 178.7 million, in November. The sales volume consisted of 67 percent semi-soft coking coal, 26 percent thermal coal, and 7 percent washed coal.

The company stated that it continues to pursue a non-selective sales policy, prioritizing semi-coking and thermal coal since July, rather than focusing solely on hard coking coal. With these measures, the company set a new operational record, loading 3.39 million tons of coal at its mine during the month, an increase of 8.3 percent from the previous record set over the past 15 years. As a result of increased loading, 1.29 million tons of coal processed with added value were exported through border conditions via the exchange, marking the highest monthly export level since coal exchange trading began in 2023.
