President Sergio Mattarella to Pay State Visit to Mongolia in 2026

Ulaanbaatar, December 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The State Visit of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to the Italian Republic is ongoing.
Following a tête-à-tête, President Khurelsukh and President Sergio Mattarella held official talks. The two Heads of State expressed satisfaction that bilateral relations and cooperation have been actively expanding across numerous social and economic sectors as a result of joint efforts.
During the visit, the two sides elevated the level of friendly relations and cooperation by two steps to establish a Strategic Partnership, underscoring the exceptional significance both countries attach to strengthening ties. The Heads of State reaffirmed their shared commitment to broadening mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and investment, agriculture, light industry, road and transport, education, science, culture, sports, tourism, and media, among other priority sectors.
The two Presidents also discussed cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations and exchanged views on regional and global affairs. They highlighted that as nations sharing common values of democracy, human rights, freedom, and peace, Mongolia and Italy support resolving disputes solely through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Presidents expressed confidence that the agreements reached during the official talks will translate into concrete outcomes. President Sergio Mattarella accepted President Khurelsukh’s invitation to pay a State Visit to Mongolia and confirmed that he will visit in 2026.
Mongolia and Italy established diplomatic relations in 1970. Mongolia opened its Embassy in Rome in 2011, while Italy opened its Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 2016, according to the Office of the President of Mongolia.
