Ulaanbaatar, November 12, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 25th Summer Deaflympics will open in Tokyo, Japan, on November 15, 2025.
The 11-day event will bring
together more than 3,200 athletes from 81 countries to compete in 21 sports
disciplines. Mongolia will be represented by 14 athletes competing in judo,
freestyle wrestling, table tennis, athletics, and shooting.
The Deaflympics is not only a
competition but also a movement that promotes confidence, inspiration, and
global recognition of the language and culture of the deaf community through
sports.
The first international sports
event for the hearing-impaired, then called the International Silent
Games, was held in Paris, France, in 1924. Mongolian athletes have
so far won two gold, six silver, and four bronze medals at previous
Deaflympics.
