Mongolia Sees Off Winter Olympians, Presents National Flag

Ulaanbaatar, January 13, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The Winter Olympic Games to be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, will open in 24 days.


A ceremonial event to honor Mongolia’s athletes competing at the Games and to present the national flag was held at the Mongolian National Olympic Committee’s “Olympic House.” Athletes and coaches were joined by officials, including International Olympic Committee Member and President of the Mongolian National Olympic Committee Battushig Batbold and Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Undram Chinbat. Around 3,500 athletes from more than 90 countries will compete across 16 events in seven winter sports for 116 sets of medals.


Mongolia will field three athletes in cross-country skiing and alpine skiing. Member of the State Great Khural Nomin Chinbat will serve as head of the Mongolian delegation. Minister Undram Ch. presented the national flag to Ariunbat A., while MNOC President Battushig Batbold presented the MNOC flag to Achbadrakh Batmunkh and Ariuntungalag Enkhbayar. The athletes then took an athlete's oath.


Mongolia’s cross-country skiers will compete in the skiathlon, sprint, and 10-kilometer events starting February 7. Ariunbat A. will compete in the alpine skiing slalom on February 16. Under the IOC Olympic Solidarity program, three skiing athletes and one skating athlete are receiving support, and partial funding is being provided to cover the costs of a ski waxing specialist during the Olympic Games.


It was also announced that Mongolia’s ceremonial team uniforms will be showcased on the runway during Milan Fashion Week.
