Ulaanbaatar, January 7, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Traffic violations and road accidents caused by speeding have not declined in the outlying areas of the Capital city.

Accident rates remain highest along roads in 22 Tovchoo, 61 Garam, Khonkhor, Baganuur, Nalaikh, Emeelt, and Bayanzurkh Tovchoo.

Within the framework of policies to reduce traffic accidents caused by speeding, the Chair of the Ulaanbaatar City Citizens’ Representative Khural and Head of the Capital City’s Crime Prevention Coordination Sub-Council, A. Bayar, has instructed the City Development Department of City Standards to develop a national MNS Average Speed Standard. The agency has now completed the draft and submitted it to the Mongolian Agency for Standard Metrology.

Officials noted that approval of the standard will define technical specifications and serve as a basis for reducing road traffic accidents.
