Ulaanbaatar, January 7, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Welcome to the December 2025 edition of Mongolia Today. In this issue, titled "From Tradition to Modern Era: The Spirit of Play," we explore value of play -- not merely as entertainment, but as sharpening one's skills, building resilience, and connecting with one another.

This edition celebrates how the “Three Manly Games” have evolved over time -- from a means of selecting the best warriors to a living tradition that not only honors culture but also supports economic development and serves as a bridge for diplomacy.

In 2025, Mongolians have shown their prowess on the world stage when a group of young men rose to the very top of the global esports rankings. The story of The MongolZ was not just about video games. It was a true underdog’s journey. After securing Mongolia's first-ever silver medal at a CS2 Major, they went on to sweep the Esports World Cup, proving that the strategic depth once used on the battlefield now lives in the lightning-fast reflexes of our digital athletes.

That same energy resonated with millions of Netflix viewers during the premiere of Physical: Asia. Our athletes quickly emerged as the emotional heart of the competition, captivating audiences with a brand of stoic resilience -- our cultural hallmark.

Their impact was so significant that it paved the way for the dedicated spin-off, Physical: Welcome to Mongolia, aired on Netflix in January 2026.

It is not only high-stakes games that define this spirit. From the weekly trivia night of UB Quiz Nights to the breathtaking images of the Landscape Photography of the Year, we invite you to read, reflect, and discover the spirit of Mongolia Today.
