Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier Arrives in Mongolia for a State Visit

Ulaanbaatar, February 7, 2024 /MONTSAME/. President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with his spouse Elke Büdenbender, arrived in Mongolia for a State Visit on February 7, 2024, at the invitation of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa. 


Foreign Minister of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia Helmut Kulitz, and other officials greeted Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and other delegations at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. An Official Welcoming Ceremony was held at Sukhbaatar Square. The two Presidents paid tribute to the statue of the Great Emperor Chinggis Khaan, and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier signed the "Book of Honored Guest" in the Baganat Hall of the State Palace of Mongolia.


The Visit is the fourth Presidential Visit of Germany to Mongolia and is taking place as part of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. 


Mongolia and Germany established diplomatic relations on January 31, 1974, and upgraded the relations to “Comprehensive Partnership” in 2008.
