MNT 2 billion to be spent on combating forest pests
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At today's regular Cabinet meeting, the appendix to the Government’s Resolution on approving the normative and location of forest areas was amended.
“This is an important decision that will significantly contribute to the successful implementation of the ‘One Billion Trees’ national movement and protection of the forest resources,” said Minister of Environment and Tourism B.Bat-Erdene during a press conference to introduce the decisions made at the Cabinet meeting.
Within the framework of the national movement, more forest units are being established upon the consideration of location, remoteness, and capacity.
“Forest pests have spread
to 730 thousand hectares of land, of which 327 thousand is in Khuvsgul aimag.
Therefore, the Cabinet has resolved to spend MNT 2 billion from the government’s
reserve fund to combat forest pests”, added the Minister.
