Minister D.Tsogtbaatar attends signing of dinosaur fossils repatriation agreement

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On September 27, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar was present at a ceremony of signing an agreement which ensures to repatriate dinosaur fossils confiscated in the USA to Mongolia.

Co-signed by Yo.Otgonbayar, Mongolia’s Ambassador to the USA and Mr. Robert Bartolo from US Department of Homeland Security, the agreement enables Mongolia to own dinosaur fossils which were illegally smuggled to the USA.




On September 26, the Minister met with former United States Secretary of State Mr.James Baker. At the meeting, the Minister expressed appreciation to the USA for its support to Mongolia’s effort to overcome challenges and difficulties and receive external supports in the new external environment and conditions during its transition period to democracy and market economy, and for its valuable contribution to Mongolia to develop its ‘third neighbor’ policy.

Mr. James Baker was United States Under Secretary of Commerce, United States Secretary of the Treasury, United States Secretary of State and White House Chief of Staff during the tenure of three presidents. He visited Mongolia in 1990 and 1991.




The same day, the Minister met with ‘The Hu’ band, Mongolia’s Cultural Envoy before their concert in Washington. Wishing success to their tour in the USA, Mr. Tsogtbaatar congratulated them on promoting the native land abroad with its unique performance that blends heavy metal and Mongolian culture and traditions.

Moreover, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar held a meeting with Mongolian youth studying in Washington.
