Deputy Agriculture Minister meets Deputy Governor of Hokkaido

and Light Industry J.Saule held a meeting with authorities of Japan’s Hokkaido Prefecture
headed by the prefecture’s Deputy Governor Tsuchiya Shunsuke.
Deputy Minister J.Saule gave information on the National
Program on Promotion of Intensive Animal Husbandry being carried out by the
Government of Mongolia, as well as other projects and programs in the sector being
co-implemented with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
The sides exchanged views on exploring opportunities for upskilling
the sector’s workforce in farming in Hokkaido, training professionals,
conducting joint researches in intensive animal husbandry, and introducing the
advanced farming equipment of Japan to Mongolia.
The Deputy Minister proposed creating legal framework for
exporting Mongolian agricultural products, especially sea buck-thorn, meat and
meat products, wool, cashmere, and leather products to Japan.
Both sides agreed to actively cooperate in realizing the
matters discussed and to establish a Memorandum of Cooperation.
