Wheat and potato need to be domestically provided

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ At its
regular meeting on November 21, the Cabinet heard nationwide harvesting report.
This year, the country
harvested 444.7 thousand tons of grain, of which 428.6 thousand tons are wheat,
167.9 thousand tons of potato, 99.2 thousand tons of vegetables, 23.4 thousand
tons of oil plants and 134.3 thousand tons of fodder plants. This year’s yield is abundant to entirely provide the domestic need of wheat and potato.
Drought, overheat, heavy
rains and snow made 24.3 thousand hectares of crop impossible to be used for
flour, but animal’s fodder. In addition, 12.9 thousand hectares of crop were
lost.
A total of 50.9 thousand
tons of seed reserve were made for next spring’s sowing.
