Local earthquake protection plan to be set up

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. A task force of the project, “Strengthening the National Capacity of Earthquake Disaster Protection and Prevention in Mongolia”, which is being implemented by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in partnership with JICA, organized an event to set up a local earthquake protection plan in Darkhan-Uul aimag.
As the aimag is considered to be in high risk during the dangers of an earthquake due to urban density, the task force regarded the aimag in need of setting up a disaster protection plan by learning from the methods used to calculate risks and previous disasters that happened in Japan.
Representatives of the aimag’s organizations specializing in infrastructure, research, health and education took part in the event.
