Revenue from rail transport grows

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first 10 months of 2018, 21.1 million tonnes of freight and 2.2 million passengers (double counting) were carried by railway transport. Compared to the same period of previous year, the number of carried freight increased by 2.6 million tonnes (14.2 percent), whereas the number of carried passengers decreased by 53.7 thousand passengers (2.4 percent).
In October 2018, 2.4 million tonnes of freight and 206.1 thousand persons took railway transport. The freight volume increased by 139.1 thousand tonnes (6.2 percent), and the number of passengers increased by 11.1 thousand (5.7 percent) compared to the previous month. In the first 10 months of 2018, 39.6 percent of the total carried freight through railway was domestic freight, 35.8 percent was export freight, 11.3% was import freight and 13.3 percent was transit freight.
In the first 10 months of 2018, the revenue from railway transport reached MNT 504.6 billion increased by MNT 70.1 billion (16.1 percent) compared to the same period of previous year.
In the first 10 months of 2018, 2.6 thousand tonnes of freight and 793.8 thousand passengers (double counting) carried by air transport. The freight volume increased by 72.0 tonnes (2.8 percent) and the number of carried passengers increased by 85.7 thousand (12.1 percent) compared to the same period of previous year. In October 2018, the volume carried freight increased by 39.8 tonnes (15.1 percent), while the number of carried passengers decreased 5.5 by thousand (6.6 percent) from the previous month.
In the first 10 months of 2018, the total carried domestic
passengers by air transport reached 293.1 thousand passengers (36.9 percent)
showing a rise of 30.4 thousand persons (11.6 percent) from the same period of
previous year. The number of international passengers reached 500.7 thousand
(63.1 percent), reflecting an increase of 55.3 thousand persons (12.4 percent)
compared with the same period of previous year.
